Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Bakery Assistant to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality cakes, biscuits, brownies and other bakery products in a fast-paced production environment. The successful applicant will collaborate with team members to ensure the efficient and timely production of a variety of bakes while maintaining strict quality standards.

Recipe Preparation:

Accurately measure and mix ingredients to prepare products according to established recipes. Scale recipes as needed to meet production requirements.

Baking and Monitoring:

Operate commercial ovens and other baking equipment to ensure precise and consistent baking. Monitor baking times and temperatures to achieve optimal results. Rotate and manage multiple baking sheets or trays simultaneously.

Quality Control:

Inspect raw materials for freshness and quality before use. Perform regular quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards. Address and correct any deviations from quality specifications.

Efficiency and Productivity:

Work efficiently to meet production schedules and deadlines. Coordinate with team members to optimise workflow and minimise downtime.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organised workspace, following proper sanitation procedures. Perform routine maintenance on baking equipment and report any issues to the Operations Director.

Creativity:

Contribute ideas for new cake flavours, designs, and variations. Collaborate with the team to develop and test new recipes and products

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other production staff, including decorators and packers, to ensure seamless production processes. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Adherence to Safety Standards:

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment as required.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Baker in a production or commercial bakery setting. Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment. Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume production environment. Creativity and attention to detail in cake decoration and presentation. Strong organisational and time management skills. Team player with excellent communication skills. Ability to lift heavy trays and stand for extended periods. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
