Below Zero is an independent bar, event space, and venue for hire located in the basement of

Helch Market

, a vibrant food hall in central Bournemouth.

We host a wide variety of events including live music nights, DJ sets, fundraisers, birthdays, and private parties. With a 100-capacity event space and four top-quality street food vendors upstairs, Helch Market blends the feel of a buzzing food hall with the atmosphere of a cultural festival.

We are now expanding our service from

evenings only (6 pm - 12 am)

to

full-day opening (12 pm - 12 am)

Bar Manager

to help lead this next chapter.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape Below Zero into a

destination bar and cultural hub

for Bournemouth.

The Role

As Bar Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day success of the bar and events space. You will lead a small, passionate team, manage operations, and bring fresh ideas to grow the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise daily bar operations and daytime cafe service Lead, manage, and develop your in-house team Deliver excellent customer service and maintain high service standards Ensure compliance with licensing, health & safety, hygiene, and security regulations Be hands-on behind the bar and lead by example Manage stock control, ordering, deliveries, and cellar maintenance (including beer line cleaning) Coordinate event bookings and build relationships with promoters, artists, and vendors Identify new opportunities to grow the business and increase sales Support social media campaigns and promotional activities Act as key holder and deputise in the absence of senior management Occasionally support our other venues and events as required

What We're Looking For

Minimum

2 years' supervisory experience

(ideally in a busy bar environment) At least

1 year of bar management experience

preferred Personal license holder (training can be provided if needed) Cocktail knowledge and menu creation experience Strong stock management skills (ordering, stock counts, loss management) Good communication and leadership skills, with experience delivering staff training Understanding of

social media marketing

and event promotion A proactive, hands-on attitude with creative thinking and problem-solving skills Fluent English

What We Offer

26,000 - 28,000

per year (depending on experience)
