We are looking for Barbacks to join the Freight Manchester Team, paying

12.60

per hour. You will need to be available to work Thursday - Sunday.

Located in the heart of the Depot, Mayfield amongst the historical industrial architecture lies a cultural hub of food, drink & entertainment - multi-vendor, multifaceted & multidimensional, where people meet to form new memories & explore new possibilities. A 2500 capacity venue with 9 bars and 12 food vendors, it provides a safe and comfortable environment where guests can enjoy delicious food, great drinks, and live entertainment without any worries.

We are looking for reliable and proactive Barbacks to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our bartenders and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the bar. You'll help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment that keeps our customers and team happy. You will be the driving force to ensure all bars can operate efficiently, delivering stock to bars to provide a smooth service, responsible for moving stock and changing kegs to support the bar.

This is a physically demanding role requiring high levels of stamina, punctuality, and a positive, "can-do" attitude. Every shift brings new challenges to overcome, and adaptability is key.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):



Respond to radio calls from Bar Managers for additional stock items. Setup and maintain bar stations to an excellent standard. Keep the bar organized and tidy, cleaning spills and breakages promptly. Prepare fruit and garnishes for drinks service. Proactively restock the bar with stock, cups, ice, and other essentials. Change barrels/kegs efficiently and safely. Maintain an orderly and clean stockroom, even during busy periods. Collaborate with the whole team to deliver seamless bar service. Creating a fun, upbeat and welcoming atmosphere for your team and our customers. Follow health & safety and security protocols rigorously. Enforce Challenge 25 and other licensing rules consistently. Complete daily and weekly cleaning schedules, including line cleaning where applicable. Ensure timely and smooth movement of stock to the bars. Communicate stock shortages and potential issues to Managerment.. Assist with stock counting and accurate inventory recording when required. Support back-of-house supervisors with opening and closing procedures. Respond promptly to radio calls from Bar Managers for additional stock requests. Safely move stock around the premises by hand, including heavy items such as full barrels.

What you'll need:



1 year previous experience as a Barback in a festival-style or multi-bar venues or warehouse operative. Proven ability to change barrels/kegs and prepare garnishes. Working knowledge of line cleaning is highly desirable. Initiative and awareness to proactively restock and support bartenders during service. Experience working in a large venue with logistical challenges and stock movements during live service is an advantage. A can-do attitude and calm head when it gets busy. Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy stock items safely, including full barrels and kegs. An infectious smile and outgoing personality to foster a fun, energetic work environment. Willingness to work outdoors (under cover). Excellent communication skills and good command of spoken and written English.
