Barista/shift Supervisor

Cirencester, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a proactive Barista / Shift Leader to oversee daily operations in our growing coffee shop in the heart of the Cotswold Water Parks (Cotswold Lakes). Working alongside the Coffee Shop Manager & Owner, the ideal candidate will ensure that all staff members are performing their duties effectively while maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the activities of staff during shifts to ensure efficient operations. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment. Assist in food preparation and oversee the quality of food served to customers. Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies as needed. Train new employees on operational procedures, food safety standards, and customer service expectations. Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly to ensure satisfaction. Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and employee performance. Collaborate with management to implement strategies for improving service efficiency. Manage and maintain opening and closing, ensuring full and proper clean downs are completed along with all paperwork. Produce great tasting drinks and food for our customers (as shift supervisor you will be responsible for heading up the food prep during your day)

Experience

Ideally you'll already have and be able to make great coffee - and know the difference between what makes a good coffee and what makes a bad one!! Previous experience in a supervisory role within the food industry is preferred. Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Basic maths skills for managing inventory and sales records. Experience in food preparation is advantageous but not essential (training will be given). A positive attitude and the ability to motivate team members are crucial for success in this role.
This varied role requires a true "can do" attitude from someone prepared to get stuck in and do what's needed on a daily basis.

We are open 7 days a week, therefore weekend work is a must. This role will be based on an average of three, nine hours days per week - working on a set 2 week rota. Which will include two week days (7am till 4pm) and alternate full weekends (8am till 5pm) - meaning you work both days one weekend and then have the following weekend completely off. Totalling an average of 27 hours per week.

There will be the opportunity to pick up additional hours on an ad hoc basis to cover holidays and also as we go into the spring / summer months and potentially increase our opening hours.

We are based in the heart of the Cotswold Lakes (The Cotswold Water Parks) on the Spine Road - there is plenty of free parking but your own transport is a must, as the bus service is pretty limited (and non-existent on Sunday's!).

Carle's Coffee is an independent, family run business - next door to a busy bicycle shop and surrounded by holiday homes.
