Job summary



We are seeking an experienced and motivated Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor to join our training team. The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of BLS training to clinical and non-clinical staff in line with Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) guidelines at various locations. This role is key to ensuring staff are competent and confident in responding to life-threatening emergencies in healthcare and community settings.

Primary duties and areas of responsibility



Deliver high-quality BLS training sessions, including adult, paediatric, and neonatal CPR, use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and management of choking.

Facilitate practical training, skills assessments, and scenario-based learning in accordance with Resuscitation Council UK standards.

Maintain accurate records of training attendance, certification, and staff compliance.

Contribute to the development and review of training materials, ensuring up-to-date evidence-based practice.

Support the wider clinical education team in the delivery of mandatory training programmes.

Participate in audits, evaluations, and quality improvement projects related to resuscitation training.

Maintain and monitor resuscitation equipment used during training, ensuring functionality and cleanliness.

Person specification: Basic Life Support instructor



Qualifications



Essential:



Recognised BLS Instructor qualification (e.g., RCUK BLS Instructor Certificate) or willingness to obtain within 6 months. Current registration with a relevant healthcare professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC) or significant experience in emergency response or clinical education.

Desirable:



Immediate Life support Instructor qualification Prior experience working in an healthcare or training environment

Experience



Essential:



Experience delivering training or teaching in a healthcare or education setting. Ability to manage a training session independently and adapt teaching styles to meet diverse learning needs.

Skills and Abilities



Essential:



Basic IT skills, including use of email and learning management systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
