Are you a Cafe, Sport, Events, Reception - multi tasker?
We are looking for a new venue supervisor to lead a team in a busy seafront cafe and sports venue. Working across two sites in Brighton and Hove. The successful candidate will play an integral part in delivering a brand new Yellowave venue on Hove seafront in 2025.
The right person will have previous experience working in cafes or coffee shops, plus have a keen interest in sport along with brilliant planning and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task in what can be a very busy environment.
Reporting to the Senior Management team, you will supervise a team of young people to promote the highest operational standards in both the cafe and across the venue. Seeing potential problems before they occur, you will be able set up the cafe and team for success, so that it operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
You will have direct responsibility for a team of staff. You will be a role model for the Yellowave ethos. You will ensure that the team delivers the company values of excellent customer service and positive onward actions of making a difference to individual lives through sport, community engagement and consideration around our impact on the environment. With staff happiness at the heart of the business, customers will love coming to Yellowave because of how you manage both the team, the customer experience and the tightly run organisation.
This role will be incredibly broad and varied, initially with the majority of work in the cafe - making coffee, planning orders, making food, smoothies and washing up, so you should enjoy getting stuck in and being hands on. Once we can see you are a successful, hands on supervisor in the cafe, we will train you in all things sport and venue management - including small sports events, overseeing Beach House bookings, reception and leagues. Please note this role is at least 50% working in the cafe.

Ideal additional experience
- A coaching qualification in any sport
- Experience of working with children
- Knowledge and experience of sand-based sports

Working in and managing a busy cafe
- Managing every aspect of the running the venue - sports areas, hireable room, busy seafront cafe
- Managing, motivating and appraising a team of young staff
- Overseeing the running of sports leagues
- Organising and running beach sports events and leagues
- Opening and closing the venue (includes: cashing up and key holder responsibilities)
- Running school events, BBQ's and corporate events
- Running kids' parties and sports academies
- Working with schools and community clubs
- Setting up and packing down sports equipment
- Creating social media content
