As an Electrical Installation Supervisor at Imperium Building Systems, you'll manage and supervise BEMS electrical installation projects, ensuring that work is completed safely, effectively, and in full compliance with industry standards and our internal quality benchmarks. You'll lead teams of electricians and apprentices, liaise with stakeholders, and play a critical role in mentoring junior staff.
Project Specific Responsibilities
Team Management:
Supervise electricians, approved electricians, and sub-contractors, managing their schedules, assignments, and daily activities.
Safety & Compliance:
Conduct regular safety audits, implement safety procedures, and ensure adherence to all industry and regulatory safety standards.
Electrical Installation:
Lead electrical installations based on technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements, including:
+ Installing cable containment systems.
+ Laying cabling for power, controls, and networks.
+ Conducting second fixing and connection of electrical and building technology equipment.
+ Performing thorough point-to-point testing.
Quality Control & Testing:
Perform comprehensive inspections and tests to verify the quality and compliance of installations, issuing Electrical Installation Certificates as required (BS7671).
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Diagnose complex electrical issues, develop strategic solutions, and perform routine checks to maintain system efficiency and reliability.
Documentation:
Maintain precise records of all work performed, materials utilised, and documentation required for project handover and compliance.
Technical Guidance & Mentorship:
Provide ongoing mentorship and technical guidance to electricians and apprentices, fostering professional growth and skill development.
Communication & Coordination:
Serve as a primary liaison between your electrical team, project management, and other project stakeholders to ensure clear communication and effective coordination.
General Responsibilities
Participate actively in training junior team members and developing educational materials for the Imperium Academy.
Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
Support a workplace culture of safety, continuous improvement, and environmental responsibility.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Essential Qualifications
Qualified as an Approved Electrician (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Minimum of five years' experience as an Approved Electrician following qualification completion.
SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification.
Higher-level technical qualification such as:
+ City & Guilds "C" Course Certificate, or
+ Level 4 technical certificate (e.g., HNC in Building Services Engineering - Electrical), or
+ Recognised BS7671 qualification in Design and Verification of Electrical Installations. Strong understanding of BS7671 Wiring Regulations and electrical safety standards.
ECS Card (Technician Grade)
Desirable Qualifications
Completed BCM01 - BCM03 training courses.
ECS Card (Building Controls Installer Grade)
Additional certifications in project management, health and safety (e.g., SMSTS).
Training or certification in specific building technology systems (e.g., BEMS, Lighting Control, Audio-Visual).
Experience
Proven supervisory experience managing teams of electricians and subcontractors.
Extensive hands-on experience with electrical installations across various building technologies including BMS, lighting control, security systems, and networks.
Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting and working from technical drawings and schematics.
Experience performing quality assurance, inspection, and testing duties to BS7671 standards.
