We are seeking a skilled Bicycle Mechanic to join our Bikery team.

We require a practical, responsible, physically fit and versatile person with a passion for bicycles, who can support Gordon Rural Action's aims in the Bicycle Workshop
The Bike Workshop Mechanic will be responsible for bicycle maintenance, assessing, servicing, and repairing bikes, renovating bicycles and interacting with the public to assist in bicycle sales where necessary. Helping to maintain a positive working environment, checking, signing off and pricing bicycles for sale, ensuring all paperwork is completed to a high standard and maintaining the electronic stock taking system.
The job responsibilities will need to be carried out in an environmentally aware manner. The aim is to ensure resources are utilised effectively and efficiently with as little environmental impact as possible.
Key tasks including, but not limited to:
Operational
Servicing, repairing and renovating bikes
Maintaining and monitoring Health and Safety measures
Ensuring workshop standards are maintained
Ensuring quality control of reconditioned bicycles and performing pre-sale inspections
Manual handling of bicycles and assisting in training of volunteers
Organising correct and secure disposal of scrap bicycles and other waste
Representing the Bike Project in a positive light to both customers, volunteers, and the community
Being an ambassador for the Bike Project and its activities
Maintaining a positive working environment
Administrative
Ensuring all paperwork is completed to a high standard
Ensuring electronic stock system is updated for all stock
Ensuring processing of payments and banking is correct for all transactions

Person Specification:
Essential role requirements
Proven and demonstrable competence in the maintenance of a wide variety of bicycle makes and types
Satisfactory Disclosure check
Ability to adhere to Gordon Rural Action policies and procedures
Ability to adhere to and promote equal opportunities.

Essential skills & experience
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of people
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Computer literate and able to interact with spreadsheets, email and the Internet
Physical strength; able to lift and move bulky items

Essential personal qualities/attributes
A positive, enthusiastic and helpful manner

Desirable skills and experience
A Cytech/HND/Velotech qualification in bicycle maintenance
Passion for environmental sustainability.
