The Role
As a Consultant in our Business Winning team you will deliver high-quality Competitive Intelligence, bid and proposal support, and client-facing business development activities.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys variety — conducting competitor and market research one day, writing compelling proposal content the next, and engaging with clients to help shape their business winning strategies. You'll be part of a collaborative and growing team, with the opportunity to develop into a broader client-facing consulting role over time.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conduct competitor and market research using open-source and primary methods to produce intelligence outputs such as competitor profiles, win-loss analyses, and market assessments.
Translate research into actionable insights to inform capture and bid strategies and support the development of Whitetree and client Competitive Intelligence services.
Contribute to bid and proposal submissions through writing, editing, and coordination, and support workshops such as Win Theme Development, Black Hat, and Strategy sessions.
Integrate intelligence into win strategies and help craft compelling bid narratives.
Engage with existing and potential clients to understand needs, promote Whitetree's services, and prepare proposals, case studies, and marketing materials.
Build trusted client relationships that drive repeat business and long-term value.
Support the development of Whitetree's methodologies, tools, and templates, capturing and sharing lessons learned to enhance best practice.
In your first 3-6 months, success might look like:
Deliver insight and impact -
Conduct competitor and market research, produce actionable intelligence, and support live bids and proposals across Defence, Aerospace, Healthcare, and Government.
Learn from experts -
Work alongside senior consultants and capture specialists, developing your consulting, analysis, and business-winning skills through hands-on project experience.
Develop your consulting skills -
Receive mentoring and feedback to build consulting capability, communication confidence, and commercial awareness.
Skills and Experience Required
Experience in at least one of: competitive intelligence, market analysis, bidding, capture, or proposal writing with exposure to business winning workshops, and an understanding of capture and bid lifecycles.
Strong research and analytical skills — able to gather, interpret, and synthesise complex information.
Excellent written communication — able to produce clear, persuasive documents for senior audiences.
Confident communicator — comfortable engaging with clients and stakeholders.
Commercial awareness and curiosity about how clients compete and win work.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Collaborative team player with a professional, delivery-focused mindset.
Defence, Aerospace, Healthcare, or Government sector experience is desirable.
Current SC clearance or willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check
Willingness and ability to work from home and travel for client engagements, including overnight stays away from home around the UK when required
