SYSTRA are currently seeking a BIM modeller to join our Buildings and Structures team based from our Birmingham office. This is a great time to join SYSTRA as we continue to develop our portfolio of work across the UK, you will be joining an established team and making a crucial contribution from day one. This role is available as a hybrid working opportunity, where you will be able to balance time spent working from home with time spent in our Birmingham office and would suit an experienced modeller looking for the next step in their career.

Main Function of Job

Collaborate with project teams including Senior Engineers, Engineers and Technicians to produce high quality models and drawings in the efficient and effective delivery of projects, ensuring the needs of the Client and the business are met. Proactively contribute to the effective and consistent implementation of SYSTRA Company policies and procedures.

Assist in safeguarding profitability through engagement with other SYSTRA staff and promote efficient engineering delivery based on a right first-time principle. Maintain and expand your skill set in support of company ventures as they develop.

The opportunity to deliver building structures relating to transport infrastructure and energy such as stations, depots, and energy from waste plants in the UK and overseas, the post-holder will be part of a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK and international clients.

Main Duties

Operational

  • Contribute Building Information Modelling (BIM) to projects as directed, ensuring Client commitments including compliance with Client BIM standards and BIN execution plans are met.
  • Undertake the duties of designer as highlighted in CDM legislation.
  • Develop your skills to enable the team to meet business objectives.
  • Deliver tasks to the required quality, time and budget under direction by others, with self-checking.
  • Have a positive attitude towards checking and quality. Work with other team members and other teams to ensure compliance with BIM standards and quality requirements, taking necessary corrective action.
  • Plan and prioritise assigned tasks effectively for yourself and other team members, reporting back on progress and delivering on commitments you have made.
Financial
  • Knowledge of the relationship between hours worked and project cost, budgets and commercial pressures.
  • Contribute to the team\'s achievement of Annual Plan by meeting or exceeding project targets.
People
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior CAD technicians and apprentices.
  • Contribute to the training of staff.
  • Contribute information on staff performance to the appraisal process and via other methods.
  • Manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your team and other stakeholders.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience of a BIM system relevant to the team\'s work and able to give some guidance to others.
  • Experience of procedures and standards that apply to CAD and able to give some guidance to others.
  • Experience of using data management systems.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and CDM regulations and able to identify hazards in designs.
  • Knowledge of building structures design principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of construction principles and standards.
  • Knowledge of the importance of planning, delivery and timescales.
  • Knowledge of the transportation sector.
