About the Role:
This is a great opportunity to join a long-established biomass boiler specialist company with over four decades in the industry. You'll be working on a range of small to medium biomass systems, covering installation, servicing, maintenance, fault finding, and commissioning. The role is hands-on, varied, and ideal for an engineer who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving, and being the face of the company on customer sites.
You'll be working with automated and hand-fed systems, managing your own van stock, and using an app-based platform to complete all reporting. If you have a strong background in biomass and a proactive, positive attitude, this role offers long-term stability, ongoing training, and future progression into lead or commissioning-level positions.
Key Responsibilities:
Install biomass boilers, heaters, silo systems, and flue systems
Complete servicing, maintenance, and deep cleaning on all installed systems
Carry out on-site commissioning and customer training (hand-fed to fully automated systems)
Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, and damage assessments
Complete all job reporting through the Connecteam app
Perform PPMs and reactive maintenance
Manage van stock; collect equipment from the office or request orders
Uphold company values and deliver excellent customer service on every visit
Identify and communicate areas for process improvement
Take responsibility for on-site health & safety following RAMS
Support junior engineers if operating as a lead engineer
Work closely with the service desk team, who schedule jobs up to two weeks ahead
Experience & Skills Required:
5+ years' experience working on small to medium biomass combustion systems (below 1.5MW)
Proven background in installation, servicing, and commissioning
Experience with plumbing and pipework (advantageous)
Fault finding and diagnostic capability
Exposure to biomass systems such as Schmid, Etter, Hyzomat, Binders, etc.
Electrical or automation qualifications are highly beneficial
Approved biomass maintenance scheme experience desirable
Stick welding experience is a plus
Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Able to work independently and as part of a team
