Role Description



Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, the successful candidate will be a time served boatbuilder (or similar marine trade) with experience in production boatbuilding or the commercial marine sector, experienced in the outfit of ancillary systems and the finishing of marine craft to the highest standard of workmanship.



The demands of the role require a candidate with demonstrated experience in working to high-standards of workmanship in a confident and timely manner. You will ideally have experience in aluminium and composite construction, as well as commonly-used marine systems and equipment. Whilst understanding of marine robotics is not essential, we are particularly interested in candidates who have worked on specialist grade, high-end applications with an exacting care for attention and detail.

Duties

Perform systems installation, commissioning and testing activities for bilge, ballast, ventilation and fuel systems. Perform systems installation for generators and power generation systems including hull openings, skin fittings, exhaust components. Install insulation systems, soundproofing and coverings to marine structures and subassemblies to a high-standard of finish. Apply marine coatings and paint systems in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. Perform manufacturing of composite parts and assemblies including mould production and tooling, and maintenance and finishing of parts. Perform installation activities with an awareness of marine corrosion mitigation and cathodic protection. Attend operational / marine trials of USV systems as a vehicle technician. Perform first line maintenance of assemblies and commercial off the shelf marine equipment. Provide support and supervision of attending subcontractors and third-party workers. Contribute to the technical development roadmaps for USV platforms, sub-systems, payloads and architectures.
Skills & Experience

Candidates will show a high-degree of health and safety understanding and safe working practices as applicable to the role. Candidates will be apprenticeship qualified boat builders experienced in marine production, maintenance and support for commercial or new production leisure vessels. Candidates will be expected to show at least 3-years of industry experience in a similar role, and show a self-starting approach to common tasks. Proficient in performing engineering operations with a variety of workshop tools, plant and equipment and special processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings or 3D CAD models. Demonstrable ability to work productively and in a timely efficient manner, where necessary showing strong ability for reasoning and problem-solving skills within an engineering environment.

Pay: 28,000.00-35,000.00 per year
