We are looking for somebody to join us in January 2026.
The Bookkeeper will join our small family business and be responsible for helping with office admin and maintaining our day-to-day financial records, including purchase and sales ledger, bank reconciliations, and VAT returns. You'll work closely with the Director to ensure smooth financial management and compliance with HMRC regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining accurate financial records using Sage
Processing invoices, receipts, and payments
Managing accounts payable and receivable
Performing weekly bank reconciliations
Preparing VAT returns and submitting to HMRC
Assisting with payroll processing and pension contributions
Reconciling month-end accounts and providing management reports
Liaising with accountants for year-end and tax submissions
Other office admin
Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience in bookkeeping or similar finance role
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage)
Good knowledge of UK accounting principles and VAT regulations
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Good time management and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
AAT qualified or working towards it (or equivalent experience)
Good computer skills
Desirable
Experience working in a small business and enjoys working in a small, hard-working family environment
Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g. Sage Payroll, CIS, Pensions)
Able to work independently and manage their own workload.
Organised, professional, and approachable.
A problem-solver with good common sense.
