We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role is essential for supporting the financial health of our organisation and requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and software. The role will also include for maintaining HR administration - this is outsourced to an outside body for HR compliance but requires to be administered from within the company when required. 25 - 35 hours per week dependant on applicant - this role can be adapted to work around school hours if necessary. We can be adaptable for the right applicant
Duties
Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Manage accounts payable, including processing invoices and ensuring timely payments.
Reconcile bank statements and assist in preparing monthly financial reports.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities as required.
Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and provide support as needed.
Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately in the accounting software.
Prepare documentation for audits and assist auditors during the audit process.
Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases then filing hard copies
Preparing financial statements showing business income and expenditure
Paying vendor invoices and tracking bank account balances
Completing VAT returns
Verifying the accuracy of business accounts and alerting the Accountant of errors
Recording any inconsistencies to help the Accountants reconcile inaccuracies
Developing monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets
Preparing employee wages and running payroll and payments
Helping the Accountant with administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts
Skills
Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks is essential.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and procedures.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with various stakeholders.
