We are now looking for an experienced
Bookkeeper & Payroll Officer
to join our friendly team in a full-time, office-based role.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping:
Maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients.
Process invoices, receipts, payments, and perform bank reconciliations.
Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC deadlines.
Assist with management accounts and year-end preparation.
Payroll & CIS:
Process weekly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients.
Manage statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, pension contributions, etc.).
Handle pension
auto-enrolment
and
re-enrolment
duties.
Administer CIS returns, verify subcontractors, and submit returns to HMRC.
Manage starter and leaver documentation (P45, P46, etc.).
Provide payslips and reports to clients and respond to payroll queries.
General:
Liaise with clients and HMRC regarding payroll and bookkeeping matters.
Maintain compliance with GDPR and confidentiality standards.
Support colleagues and management with general accounting tasks as required.
Requirements
Proven experience in
bookkeeping and payroll
within an accountancy (preferable) or similar environment.
Strong understanding of
CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
.
Experience with
pension auto-enrolment and re-enrolment
processes.
Proficient in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Must be
UK-based
and able to work
from the office full-time
.
Desirable
AAT or ICB qualified.
Experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.
Knowledge of RTI submissions and pension provider portals.
