We are looking for a passionate and reliable Brunch Chef to join our start-up brunch cafe and be part of the kitchen team from the very beginning. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who enjoys creative brunch food, fast-paced service, and helping build a new food brand from the ground up.
You will play a key role in preparing and delivering high-quality brunch dishes, supporting menu development, and maintaining excellent kitchen standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook brunch dishes to a high standard during service
Assist with menu development, plating, and brunch presentation
Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards at all times
Support stock control, prep planning, and waste reduction
Work efficiently during busy brunch services
Contribute ideas to improve dishes, workflows, and kitchen setup
Work closely with the Cafe Manager and front-of-house team
What We're Looking For
Experience as a brunch, breakfast, or cafe chef
Strong understanding of brunch-style cooking (eggs, grills, plates, sauces)
Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment
Positive attitude and team-focused mindset
Food hygiene level 2 (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities
Lead and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring efficient team management and collaboration
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Oversee food production processes, maintaining consistency and quality across all menu items
Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen operations
Assist in menu planning and development to introduce innovative culinary offerings
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health regulations
Serve food to guests when required, ensuring excellent customer service
Requirements
Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within hospitality or restaurant settings
Strong culinary skills with a comprehensive understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques
Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (HACCP certification is advantageous)
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
Experience in menu development, food presentation, and service delivery
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism
