To facilitate and support the cook in the delivery of attractive, nutritious and appetising food to the residents of Milsom House in line with the politics and procedures of the Manor House St. Hilary Ltd.
The post holder will conduct their relationship with all staff, residents, relatives and other parties with whom they will have contact within the course of their duties at Milsom House in a positive manner. They will also acknowledge the importance of positive skills and the maintenance of effective teamwork.
Organisational Relationship
The post holder is accountable to the Home Manager and reports to the Chef.
Core Functions
1. To do everything possible to ensure the comfort and dignity of the resident and his/her family or friends, and to relate with kindness, courtesy and sympathy to all concerned at all times.
2. To assist the resident to offer hospitality to their guests.
3. To deliver meals wherever the resident may wish to take them, attractively served, at the correct temperature, and in a manner to encourage appetite.
4. To deliver meals in support of the care plan as set and reassessed the Home Manager and GP at appropriate intervals.
5. To ensure a continuous supply of water and cold drinks in clean and appropriate receptacles.
6. To serve meals to residents in a manner appropriate to that resident's needs.
7. To report any perceived changes in resident's condition, including their appetite, ability to eat and diet, to the Senior Nurse on duty.
8. Basic preparation and service of food, light snacks and refreshments where appropriate in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
9. Laying and clearing of table and trays.
10. Washing dishes and equipment where appropriate in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
11. To maintain the kitchen and areas where food is stored in accordance with hygiene standards imposed by environmental health regulations and other relevant statutory bodies which may apply to Milsom House
12. To report any faulty equipment to the administrator.
13. To maintain any records that are required of them in a clear and legible fashion in accordance with procedures with procedures laid down by Milsom House management
14. To maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients and residents at all times.
15. To participate in supervision and continuous personal development through training, supervision and appraisal as identified by the Home Manager.
Person Specification
No formal qualifications are required other than food hygiene certificate, but post holders are expected to have an interest in the quality provision of food. They should also share the philosophy of care of Milsom House. The duties of the post may change from time to time and other duties may be undertaken which are consistent with the overall role and level of the post.

Employee must be able to:-
Pull, push, lift or lower any load that has been risk assessed, intermittently during any given shift.
Walk, stand, sit, squat and climb stairs intermittently during any given shift
Kneel on floor on either knee and stand up again intermittently during any given shift
Adapt a shoulder width stance and lunge to left side and right side intermittently during any given shift
Grip and hold any object
Adopt a static posture
