Brewery Delivery Driver

Burton-On-Trent, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

This full-time role is primarily focused on driving and delivering our brewery products to customers in a safe, timely, and professional manner. Deliveries include a mix of local and nationwide routes, requiring flexibility in scheduling and route planning. As a key representative of the business, the driver will ensure excellent customer service and maintain high standards in product handling and presentation. When delivery demand is lower, the role includes supporting the brewery team with cask washing and general production tasks. The role involves regular manual handling and lifting of heavy items such as casks and kegs, requiring good physical fitness and safe lifting practices.

Main Responsibilities

Delivery Operations (Primary Duty)

Load, transport, and deliver cask ales and other brewery products to customers with care and professionalism. Deliveries include both local and nationwide routes. Use mobile delivery applications to record customer signatures and manage cask tracking -- confidence using smartphone-based software is essential. Pick and prepare orders, ensuring stock accuracy and proper assignment (e.g., using BREWW or similar systems). Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently, keeping all logs and digital records up to date. Provide a friendly and helpful service during deliveries, acting as a positive face of the business. Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly. Regularly clean and maintain delivery vehicles, both inside and out, to keep them presentable and roadworthy. Perform manual handling tasks including lifting, loading, and unloading heavy casks, kegs, and other items, in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

Cask Washing & Brewery Support (Secondary Duty)

Clean and sanitise casks using appropriate equipment to meet hygiene and quality standards. Inspect casks for wear or damage, carry out minor repairs, or report issues to the Head Brewer. Assist with cask filling, labelling (including allergen and batch tracking info), and maintaining accurate records. Maintain accurate records of cleaned and filled casks and assist with inventory tasks. Support general brewery operations as needed, including stock handling, racking, and cleaning. Perform cleaning tasks in the brewery to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

General Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Assist with brewery events, and other reasonable management requests where required. Monitor warehouse stock levels and report shortages. Operate machinery and follow all safety and COSHH procedures when handling chemicals. Attend staff meetings and contribute to ongoing improvements.

Additional Duties

Support brewery promotions and represent the company positively in the community. Participate in delivery route optimisation, logistics improvements, and facility upkeep. Take on additional tasks as reasonably requested by management. Be flexible with working hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.

Legal and Compliance Responsibilities

Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including correct use of PPE and safe chemical handling. Follow laws and regulations related to alcohol transport and delivery. Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation for casks, deliveries, vehicle checks, and any incidents. Ensure full compliance with GDPR, Employment Law, Weights and Measures, and Food Hygiene standards. Attend all mandatory Health & Safety training sessions.
