REPORTS TO: BRISTOL BEARS WOMEN LEAD THERAPIST AND HEAD OF MEDICAL SERVICES
Bristol Bears Rugby is part of Stephen Lansdown's sporting group of companies which includes Bristol Sport, Bristol City Football, Bristol Flyers Basketball and each of their respective community charities.
Our ambition is 'to inspire our community through rugby success'. Our supporters regularly attend Ashton Gate Stadium to watch the team perform in Premiership and European Cup Competitions as well as our Women's team who play at the highest level of domestic competition in Premiership Women's Rugby.
ROLE SUMMARY
To provide Sports Therapy/Rehabilitation/Physiotherapy to the Women's senior players
KEY OBJECTIVES
To provide gold standard care to the Women's senior players throughout the season including match day emergency cover.
To be second in command to the Lead Therapist and in their absence, assume full responsibility for the Women's senior players care and management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of the senior women's players
Communicate effectively to the clubs medical team, coaches, and players about updates on player's injuries and return to training dates.
Where appropriate to liaise with the lead therapist about referrals to consultants, imaging services where applicable
Maintain up to date notes about player's injuries on the club's intelligence platform: Kitman Labs.
Follow the club's emergency action plan (EAP) for training and games
Work effectively as a team with other part time staff such as sports therapists, sports scientists and strength and conditioning to ensure a multidisciplinary approach has been utilised for everyone.
Ensure you are flexible to provide medical cover for 3 x training days (Typically 1400 - 2200, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) per week and a minimum of 20 games per season.
To engage in the club's staff appraisal process to ensure high standards are being continuously met.
To be aware of the club's safeguarding policies and the club safeguarding officer to report any issues.
Be committed to regularly undertake CPD and attend any events at the club to aid personal development.
To comply with the club's policies and procedures.
To contribute positively to the Bears vision and culture.
Any other reasonable tasks or roles as requested by the Head of Medical Services.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Have a BSc degree in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy
Must have full and in-date membership/registration to either CSP, HCPC, SST, BASRaT
Indemnity insurance covering you to work in elite rugby
PHICIS Level 2 or equivalent
Thorough CPD portfolio demonstrating ongoing learning in an elite sporting environment
Proven experience in high performance rugby
Full valid driver's license and access to a vehicle due to location
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends - including bank holidays/school holidays
Competent in the use of Microsoft suite including as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
Minimum 3 years full time clinical work post-graduation
PHICIS Level 3
Experience of working with elite female athletes
Competent in the use of Rugby Squad Medical and Intelligence Platform: Kitman Labs
TRAINING
Mentorship provided by Lead Therapist
Monthly CPD sessions provided by the wider medical team and occasional CPD from the PWR
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times, with relevant documentation to support
Report all incidents and accidents as required
To report any hazards detected
To complete and review the risk assessments for the department

LOCATION
: Bristol Bears High Performance Centre, Abbots Leigh, Bristol, BS8 3TF. Where required, the role may include duties at off-site locations for game days including but not limited to Shaftesbury Park, Frenchay Park Road, BS16 1LG.
CONTRACT TYPE:
Permanent, part time contract.
WORKING HOURS:
24 hours per week, typically 1400 - 2200, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings plus game days when required.
SALARY:
19,000 - 21,000 per annum depending on experience
