The Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute (VPD-HLRI) is seeking a proactive and skilled Building Services Supervisor to join our world-class facility on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.


The VPD-HLRI - a collaboration between the University of Cambridge and Royal Papworth Hospital brings together scientists, clinicians and industry partners to improve heart and lung health for people everywhere. As part of this vibrant and multidisciplinary community, you will play a vital role in ensuring our research spaces run efficiently, safely and to the highest standards.


In this pivotal role, you will oversee the daily operations of the Institute's buildings, laboratories and clinical research areas. You will coordinate maintenance programmes with the University Estates Division and external contractors while supporting the Building Services Manager in delivering a proactive, reliable and high-quality technical service. Acting as deputy when required, you will ensure continuity across building operations and service delivery. You will be involved in health and safety compliance, conducting risk assessments, implementing best practices and contributing directly to planned works, refurbishments and technical installations.


We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a background in building services, facilities management or a related trade discipline. You will have the ability to supervise a small technical team, communicate effectively with researchers and Estates colleagues, and resolve complex building systems issues efficiently. A relevant qualification in building services, engineering or a trade discipline, together with substantial experience in research, clinical or laboratory settings, will be highly desirable for success in this role.

Please note, the role holder will be required to hold on-call duties (compensated) on a rotational basis and must be able to report to the site within 30 minutes for out-of-hours emergencies.
