We are seeking a skilled and proactive Building Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong management capabilities, relevant technical knowledge, and leadership qualities to ensure the building functions efficiently and safely. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to the seamless running of our premises while maintaining high standards of safety and operational excellence. This function will report to a named maber of the Board of Trustees.
Principal Duties
Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring all systems operate optimally
Oversee scheduled inspections and repairs, prioritising safety and efficiency
Manage a small team of Caretakers ( full time and relief) and cleaners.
Participate in developing and and implementing project management plans for building upgrades or renovations
Set up and manage contracts for planned maintenance of major systems and Waste Management.
Monitor all building systems including electrical and mechanical and environmental.
Together with Caretakers , undertake general maintenance , including first line maintenance and repair and renewal of internal fixtures, fittings and decoration and external building and grounds maintenance and repair , including the Nursery playground .
Liaise with Admin staff to ensure requirements for porterage duties are notified in advance and adequately staffed; assist in those duties as needed , including the set up and breakdown of multi-use meeting and conference spaces.
Manage the provision and control of janitorial supplies for the Canolfan Gorseinon building and Trusting Hands Nursery.
Ensure staff compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs
Manage contractors, suppliers, and service providers to facilitate smooth operations and compliance with all relevant company and statutory health and safety requirements. while on site.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments
Provide monthly reports to the Board of Trustees.
Experience
Proven supervising experience in building management or facilities operations in an educational or charities environment.
Strong management skills with the ability to lead teams effectively
Demonstrable small project management experience within a facilities environment
General mechanical knowledge with understanding of building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, or electrical installations
Electrical experience
Familiarity with maintenance procedures for various mechanical and electrical systems
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication across teams and stakeholders
Proficiency in use of Windows and Microsoft based IT systems.
