What you'll be doing?




Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function - Barratt Partnerships.

While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don't: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You'll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.



The Business Auditor will carry out risk based divisional internal audits to provide independent assurance over the implementation and operation of effective internal controls and the application of appropriate Group policies and procedures.






The role will provide feedback to the Head of Risk and Control on themes in relation to effective or ineffective divisional control design, divisions or functions where increased risk is identified, or suggestions for possible improvements in the design or effectiveness of internal controls from audit testing performed within the business.






The role support the wider Audit and Risk function, as directed by the Director of Audit and Risk, in Group audits or investigations, and to support other members of the divisional audit team to deliver the Audit and Risk Committee approved internal audit plan.




You will be expected to:
Lead the planning for divisional audits, engaging with management to understand any local risks, issues or challenges which may impact the divisional audit; Deliver fieldwork for divisional audits based on the BRICk controls/standard divisional audit programme and latest policies and procedures; Document clear high quality audit test findings with supporting evidence to back up conclusions; Agree findings and SMART change actions with divisional management in order to drive continuous improvement; Draft high standard audit report findings as part of divisional audit reports, requiring minimum review; Support guest auditors and other team members in areas of expertise Work collaboratively to deliver a consolidated and cohesive divisional audit as part of the Audit and Risk Committee approved plan; and Track and follow up of change actions from audits completed.

What you'll need?




To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
Qualified Accountant or other business-relevant qualification Experience in working in, or auditing, multiple companies or companies with different locations/sites desirable Internal/external audit experience Good interpersonal skills and ability to building open, honest and robust stakeholder relationships management at all levels Able to work independently, a self-starter, able to multiple-task and complete work once started to a high standard. Attention to detail, strong report writing skills c. 20% travel around the UK
