This is an exciting opportunity for a treasury and pensions specialist to join the Royal Borough of Greenwich Council's Finance Team.
The Council's Pension Fund is one of the largest Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS) in London, with assets exceeding 1.7 billion and an ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality across its investment portfolio.
The role sits within the Partnering and Investment Team and reports to the Accounting & Business Change Deputy Manager for Treasury and Pensions. You will support all aspects of ensuring our Pension Fund and Treasury functions are fit for purpose, including oversight of the Pension Fund's investment portfolio in line with LGPS regulations.
The role will lead on all aspects of pension fund accounting, including the production of the Statement of Accounts and line management of the Pension Fund Accountant.
The successful candidate will also support the day-to-day monitoring of pension fund investments and the management of pension fund contracts. You will liaise with external fund managers, advisers, and other suppliers, building effective working relationships and ensuring a high standard of service is maintained for the Pension Fund.
To be considered, you will need to be a qualified accountant or possess relevant experience at an equivalent professional level. While experience in pension fund investments and accounting within local government and/or treasury functions is highly desirable, the ability to demonstrate strong technical accounting skills is essential. Equally important are excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to convey complex financial information in a clear and accessible manner.
