Business Development Executive

Full Time, Permanent



We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Executive to join our expanding Inside Sales Team based in our Ipswich office. The successful applicant will be responsible for nurturing new business by making telephone calls and MS Teams meeting, developing relationships with known customers who do not regularly ship with MSC. The successful candidate will help identify new business opportunities and their shipping requirements, arrange quotations, follow up with customers to secure the booking or obtain feedback and guide/support customers through our end-to-end processes and procedures.

Skills and experience you'll bring to us



Minimum basic school level qualifications (GCSE) with grade C+ in English, Math's, IT Competent in using Microsoft programs, including Excel, Outlook, Power Point Self-motivated with a sales focused mindset Communicate effectively at internal and external levels and build relationships Able to deliver a high standard of work with accuracy and attention to detail Able to demonstrate a positive approach to resolving issues working off your own initiative Proven experience in business development Excellent telephone communication skills A desire to acquire new business, nurture and develop existing business The ability to learn about products and services and describe/explain them to prospects To be able to communicate with confidence and to interact professionally at all levels The ability to think on your feet with a positive "can do" attitude and a pro-active "solution" mindset Track record of successfully meeting targets and deadlines Experience within shipping / logistics industry (Desirable)

How you will help us and what you can expect



Strong tele sales skills, with a passion for hunting business opportunities, including cold calling Active desire to win new business and meet KPI's, exploring all opportunities to increase volume by developing closer customer relationships Develop new and existing business from pricing enquiries, securing new bookings with a target driven approach Identify and promote attractive business opportunities to trade, and Value-Added Service opportunities to our specialist business development team Actively follow up quotations using all communication channels including warm and cold telephone contact, until bookings are achieved, and new repeat business is fully secured Work closely with Trade to proactively retain and grow accounts, including any research and development required, mindful of contribution toward overall sales revenue targets and budgets Ensure quotations are processed in a timely, accurate manner within agreed KPI's Collation of performance statistics, monthly reports, market studies and presentations as required by the Sales team To manage and update Sales Pipelines Strong communication and liaison across the Commercial teams and the wider business to ensure operational support Face-to-face meetings with clients along with the CDM as required
