Overall Purpose of the Job
The
Business Development Manager
will drive the commercial growth of LUKS Travels by expanding the client base, developing and packaging travel products, and strengthening partnerships with key travel service providers. The role combines front-end business development with back-end operational oversight to maximise revenue, enhance client satisfaction, and ensure high standards of travel planning, budgeting, and service delivery.
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for aligning sales growth, market development, and travel operations with the company's business objectives.

Key Activities and Accountabilities
Specific Main Duties
Oversee day-to-day commercial and operational activities of the travel business, ensuring smooth delivery of services and adherence to company policies.
Manage and supervise staff, including recruitment, induction, training, and ongoing performance management.
Develop, price, and implement attractive travel packages and itineraries tailored to different market segments (corporate, leisure, group travel, etc.).
Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with airlines, hotels, transport providers, and other travel service suppliers to secure competitive rates and value-added benefits.
Monitor and analyse sales performance, set revenue targets, and implement action plans to achieve and exceed monthly and annual targets.
Handle key customer enquiries, provide expert travel advice, and resolve complaints promptly to maintain high levels of client satisfaction and loyalty.
Lead marketing and promotional activities (online and offline) to promote LUKS Travels' services, including campaign planning, partnerships, and targeted outreach.
Stay updated on market trends, competitor offerings, travel regulations, and emerging destinations, and integrate these insights into business plans.
Manage the company's travel budgets, monitor profitability of products and accounts, and drive cost optimisation without compromising service quality.
Build and maintain strong relationships with high-value clients and strategic partners, ensuring repeat business and referrals.
Oversee accurate documentation, reporting, and administrative tasks, including schedules, sales reports, and management information.
General Duties
Organise staff recruitment, training, and ongoing administration for the travel team.
Arrange staff rotas and allocate tasks to ensure adequate coverage during peak periods.
Manage budgets, meet sales targets, and maximise profit margins across products and services.
Liaise with head office and external partners for marketing, brand positioning, and joint campaigns.
Handle mail, email, and phone enquiries efficiently and address any escalated customer complaints.
Keep holiday and travel information updated and brief staff on new routes, regulations, or offers.
Support sales of both package holidays and custom travel solutions.
Hold regular team meetings to motivate staff and align them with sales and service targets.
What do We Need?
To be considered for this role, you should have the following skills, experience, and qualifications:
Core Role Requirements
Demonstrable experience in
business development, sales, or travel management
, ideally within a travel agency, tour operator, or similar environment.
Strong background in overseeing booking processes, itinerary management, and travel logistics, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with travel vendors and partners, including experience in negotiating contracts and managing service-level agreements.
Experience in developing and managing travel budgets, monitoring expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service standards.
Ability to generate and interpret sales and travel management reports, analyse trends, and propose process improvements.
Skills and Competencies
3-5 years of experience in business development, or a related field.
Proven track record in vendor negotiation, budget management, and cost control.
Strong organisational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at different levels.
Proficiency in business management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Flexibility to travel for business meetings, site visits, or familiarisation trips when required.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Business Administration, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field

Additional certifications in travel management, sales, or related disciplines will be an advantage.
