The role of Business Development Manager (BDM) is crucial to the commercial success of Barton Storage Systems, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new growth opportunities, focusing on new and existing markets, clients, and partnerships to increase revenue and profitability, involving strategic planning, market research, relationship building with clients/partners, creating proposals, negotiating deals, and collaborating across teams (sales, marketing, operations and procurement) to drive long-term company success. Key duties include market analysis, developing growth strategies, pitching services, managing client accounts, forecasting sales, and staying updated on industry trends.
This is a new role to the business with the opportunity for you shape and drive growth with the support of the senior management team.
Realistic initial OTE of 50k however there are clear opportunities to progress above this.

Responsibilities
Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets.
Seek out appropriate contacts in organisations to highlight specific commercial opportunities.
Generate leads and cold call prospective customers.
Meet with customers/clients face-to-face/email or over the phone.
Foster and develop relationships with customers, clients, partners, sponsors and donors in order to generate repeat business as well as finding new opportunities.
Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet requirements.
Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business and reach new audiences.
Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes.
Assist with production of client contracts as and when required.
Have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them.
Ensure staff are on board throughout the organisation, and understand the need for change and what is required of them.
Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the Commercial Management Team.
Improve the way the commercial activities of the company are undertaken and the processes behind it.
Research and attend seminars, conferences and events to build your businesses' network and profile.
Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world.
Assist with the implementation of sales campaigns.
Assist the Commercial Management Team to negotiate pricing with customers.
Increase commercial sales of the business to specific targets.
Construct sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to Senior Management Team.
Develop the business' commercial strategy.

Feedback to the Senior Management Team, ideas for new product development based on market needs.

Develop and execute business plans and strategies for growth, including market entry and product positioning.

Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Sales & Negotiation:
Pitch products/services, negotiate contracts, and close deals to generate revenue.
Collaboration:
Work with sales, marketing, procurement, and operations to align goals and ensure smooth project execution.
Performance Monitoring:
Create sales forecasts, track progress, and report on KPIs to meet company objectives.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field
Proven experience and track record of success in business development, sales, or a similar role (5+ years)
Familiarity with CRM software and data analysis tools
