We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our client base, expanding our market presence and contributing to the overall success of Golley Slater.
This is a role with lots of exposure to new customers and internal teams, and you will often be the first person from Golley Slater that new prospects will speak to. So, we are looking for someone with a tenacious attitude, a real people person and someone who prospects can warm to easily.
You will become an expert in what we do and what we can deliver - using your business development experience, product knowledge and excellent communication skills to hunt new leads. Youll then engage those prospects, demonstrate that you understand their requirements, secure meetings and brief your colleagues on the opportunity.
You will find yourself in a fun, creative and dynamic environment, working with a wide range of marketing specialists.
Main duties and responsibilities:
+ Collaborate with senior management to identify target markets and prioritise opportunities for growth through new business.
+ Maintain an awareness of our current marketing services & capabilities and be able to discuss these with prospects.
+ Find, research & appraise potential new customers that fit our target audience criteria.
+ Identify potential sources of leads from our existing customer/prospect database (e.g. lapsed accounts, opportunities for cross / up sell).
+ Proactively identify new business opportunities over and above our current prospect/customer database.
+ Proactive outreach & lead generation activity engaging prospects through various channels, including cold calling, networking, email, and social media tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator through to securing a meeting with the prospect.
+ Propose outreach activity and present your ideas to your marketing colleagues.
+ Conduct initial needs assessments to understand prospect/client requirements and provide clear & accurate briefing notes for your colleagues when discussing opportunities.
+ Collaborate with internal teams to develop customised content that addresses prospect needs and creates 121 engagement opportunities.
+ Build and nurture strong relationships with prospects and clients to understand their business and objectives.
+ Attend industry events, conferences, and networking events to build a strong professional network.
+ Represent Golley Slater via online social channels in a positive and professional manner.
+ Stay informed about industry trends, news and competitor activity.
+ Use CRM software to manage, maintain and improve the database of prospects.
+ Maintain a log of which prospects have been contacted, the outcome of each interaction and schedule any necessary follow ups.
+ Provide regular updates & feedback to the wider team - including various standard and ad-hoc reporting (e.g. the number of leads coming in, the number qualified, highlights, points of interest etc).
Skills and experience:
+ A track record in lead generation, growing & developing the customer base.
+ Excellent external communication skills with an ability to nurture leads and develop relationships with potential customers.
+ Excellent internal communication skills with a proven and demonstratable ability to communicate with and manage senior stakeholders.
+ An understanding of marketing principles and an ability to discuss sales & marketing challenges with prospects.
+ Strong commercial acumen, with an ability to think strategically and contribute ideas relating to sales, marketing and lead generation.
+ Ability to work towards and report against key performance indicators and provide insightful commentary on outcomes.
+ Outgoing personality combined with a team player mentality.
