Overall Purpose of the Job:



The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth and profitability of the store by identifying new business opportunities, strengthening customer relationships, and expanding market reach. The role focuses on increasing sales, developing partnerships, and implementing strategies that enhance the store's competitive position. This includes analyzing market trends, improving customer acquisition and retention, and ensuring the store meets its revenue targets while maintaining a strong brand presence.

Key Activities and Accountabilities:



Specific Main Duties



Identify and pursue new business opportunities to boost restaurant sales and expand customer reach. Build and nurture strong relationships with guests, vendors, and local partners. Conduct market research to track dining trends, competitors, and customer preferences. Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to drive restaurant growth. Monitor restaurant performance, prepare reports, and suggest actionable improvements. Negotiate supplier contracts, partnerships, and promotional deals to maximise profitability. Work closely with restaurant management to enhance guest experience and customer loyalty. Plan and execute promotional campaigns, events, and community engagement activities. Train and support staff on upselling techniques, guest service standards, and sales practices. Ensure all business development efforts align with the restaurant's overall objectives.

General Duties



Develop and implement strategies to increase restaurant sales and overall revenue. Identify and secure new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations within the food and hospitality industry. Build and maintain strong relationships with regular diners, corporate clients, event organizers, and community partners. Conduct market research to track dining trends, customer preferences, and competitor activity. Plan and execute promotional campaigns, special dining events, and seasonal offers to attract and retain customers. Monitor sales performance and prepare regular business development reports for management. Work with the restaurant management team to refine menu offerings, pricing strategies, and customer engagement initiatives. Train and guide staff on upselling techniques, guest relations, and customer service excellence. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing escalated concerns promptly and professionally. Contribute to the restaurant's long-term growth, reputation, and brand positioning in the market.

Job Knowledge and Qualifications:



Experience



Proven track record in business development, sales, or restaurant/hospitality management. Experience in identifying new business opportunities to increase bookings, events, and overall revenue. Strong background in building and maintaining client relationships, partnerships, and corporate tie-ups. Ability to design and execute effective sales and marketing strategies for the food and beverage industry. Experience in leading teams, setting targets, and driving performance. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with both clients and internal staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in revenue optimization. Familiarity with food trends, dining preferences, and consumer behavior in the restaurant sector.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field Proven experience in business development, sales, or restaurant/food & beverage management Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, customer service, and dining trends Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Ability to identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams Proficiency in data analysis, market research, and competitor benchmarking Leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating staff teams Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic, customer-driven environment
