Health Innovation Manchester (HInM) is seeking a Business Development Manager to help deliver our ambitious commercial strategy, with a strong focus on partnerships with the life sciences industry. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of healthcare transformation, where the NHS, academia, and industry meet.



About the role



As Business Development Manager, you'll work closely with the Business Development Director and Chief Commercial Officer to shape and execute strategic initiatives. You'll bring commercial expertise, influence major partnerships, and navigate both NHS and industry environments with confidence and clarity.



We're looking for a commercially minded team player who can:



Negotiate and manage complex commercial contracts.

Lead strategic business planning, funding bids, and project delivery.

Build trusted relationships with stakeholders across the NHS, government, and industry.

Oversee governance, reporting, and financial processes for high-impact projects.

Communicate complex ideas in simple, compelling ways to senior audiences.

What we need from you the candidate



To thrive in this role, you'll need:



A strong background in business development or commercial management, ideally within or alongside the NHS and life sciences industry landscape

Deep understanding of the UK digital health and innovation ecosystem.

Experience of or deep understanding of how life science and health technol;ogy organisations operate within their codes of conduct and financial governance.

Excellent problem-solving, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.

The ability to work independently to solve problems, and create improved processes to support the growth of the team and delivery of stretching targets

The ability to translate strategy into delivery, again working both independently and within teams.
