We are seeking a motivated and strategic Business Development Manager to drive growth by identifying new business opportunities, expanding our client base, and strengthening relationships with existing clients. You will work closely with the leadership team, estimating, and delivery functions to convert opportunities into successful projects.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to increase revenue and project opportunities in target sectors (commercial fit-out, refurbishment, office interiors, retail, leisure).
Identify and target new clients, key decision-makers, and influential specifiers; build a robust sales pipeline with measurable milestones.
Manage end-to-end BD processes: lead generation, qualification, proposal development, bid management, negotiations, and handover to delivery teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring repeat business and high client satisfaction.
Collaborate with estimating and project delivery teams to develop compelling proposals, accurate costings, and value propositions.
Develop market intelligence on competitors, industry trends, and regulatory changes to inform strategy.
Represent the company at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings; leverage existing networks to create new opportunities.
Prepare and present regular sales forecasts, performance metrics, and progress reports to senior leadership.
Work with marketing to create targeted campaigns, case studies, testimonials, and thought leadership content.
Ensure compliance with health and safety, GDPR, and other relevant regulations in all client interactions and proposals.
Skills
Proven track record in business development, sales, or client relations within the construction, fit-out, or refurbishment sectors (minimum of 3-5 years preferred).
Strong network of high-profile clients or stakeholders within the Manchester region or national accounts with willingness to leverage them.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills; able to articulate value propositions and technical details to non-technical clients.
Strategic thinker with a consultative selling approach; able to balance short-term wins with long-term relationships.
Ability to manage multiple opportunities concurrently and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Sound commercial acumen, with experience in budgeting, pricing strategies, and contract awareness.
Self-motivated, proactive, and collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset.
UK-based driving license and willingness to travel as required.
