Job Description

Your Solar Energy is seeking a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for driving growth within the

Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Solar PV sector

, securing new contracts and developing long-term client relationships. The role focuses on identifying, winning, and managing high-value solar PV opportunities, including rooftop, ground-mounted, and energy optimisation solutions for commercial and industrial clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



Business Development & Sales



Identify and secure new commercial and industrial Solar PV contracts across the UK. Develop and manage a robust pipeline of C&I solar opportunities. Target sectors including manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, retail, education, healthcare, and multi-site estates. Engage with decision-makers including Directors, Estates Managers, Energy Managers, and Procurement teams. Lead the full sales lifecycle from initial engagement through to contract award.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management



Build long-term relationships with commercial and industrial clients. Understand client energy requirements, ESG objectives, and commercial drivers. Present Solar PV solutions tailored to client needs, including CAPEX, PPA, and funding models (where applicable). Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on system performance, ROI, and sustainability benefits.

Bid & Proposal Management



Work closely with design, technical, and project delivery teams to develop accurate and competitive proposals. Support site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical solution development. Contribute to tender submissions, framework bids, and multi-site rollouts. Negotiate commercial terms and pricing to secure profitable contracts.

Market Development & Strategy



Monitor market trends, legislation, incentives, and emerging technologies in the Solar PV and energy sector. Identify new routes to market, partnerships, and strategic opportunities. Support the development of the company's Solar PV offering and go-to-market strategy.

Reporting & Performance



Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting. Provide regular sales forecasts and performance updates. Meet or exceed agreed revenue and margin targets.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



Essential



Proven track record in business development or sales within the Solar PV or renewable energy sector. Experience securing commercial and industrial contracts (not domestic). Strong understanding of Solar PV systems, project delivery models, and commercial drivers. Ability to engage at board and senior management level. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable



Experience with PPA, leasing, or funded solar solutions. Knowledge of energy storage, EV infrastructure, or wider energy optimisation solutions. Experience working with EPCs, developers, or energy service companies.
