As our

Business Development Manager

, you'll play a key role in expanding our customer base, increasing our market share, and developing commercially sound strategies that drive sustainable business growth.

The Role



As

Business Development Manager

, you will be at the forefront of Clayton Glass' growth strategy--tasked with expanding our market share and securing new business opportunities that add real, measurable value. This is not a reactive sales role.

Your role will be to seek out the opportunities others might overlook--unearthing untapped sectors, identifying gaps in our current provision, and actively suggesting new ways of working that

generate profit

You will need to deeply understand the values and objectives of potential new clients and their businesses. By strategically aligning Clayton Glass' values and products with their needs, you will effectively

to enhance our appeal and drive sales growth.

You'll combine strong market research capabilities with

Key Responsibilities:



Revenue Generation:



Actively pursue and secure new business opportunities that result in increased sales and profit Implement strategies that directly contribute to the company's financial growth Monitor and report on sales performance to ensure targets are met

Market and Customer Development:



Identify new business opportunities in untapped markets and sectors Research potential clients and understand their needs to offer tailored solutions Increase Clayton Glass' visibility and market share across target regions

Strategic Planning and Delivery:



Develop and implement growth strategies that balance short-term results with long-term value Evaluate opportunities for profitability and viability before investment of time and resource Regularly assess market activity to inform strategic direction and adapt approach accordingly

Relationship Building:



Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing customers Represent Clayton Glass at meetings, site visits, and industry events Ensure a , for all client interactions

Collaboration and Reporting:



Work closely with the estimating, technical and production teams to align business development with operational capacity Provide regular feedback and insights to the senior leadership team Maintain accurate records of leads, progress, and outcomes in CRM tools

Essential Criteria:



Minimum of 5 years' experience

in business development, commercial, or strategic sales roles, with a , ideally within manufacturing, construction materials, or the glazing sector.

Driving Licence:

Full UK licence required for travel to customer meetings and site visits

Commercial Awareness:

Strong understanding of pricing, margin, and the balance between quick wins and longer-term gains

Strategic Thinking:

Ability to plan, execute, and adjust business development strategies in line with commercial objectives

Decision-Making Skills:

Instinct to spot dead ends vs opportunities worth nurturing

Networking and Influencing:

Comfortable and confident engaging with decision-makers at all levels

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication, able to present ideas persuasively

Reporting Systems

: Familiarity with CRM tools

Market Penetration Initiatives

: Background in sales strategy, account growth, or expansion strategies

Desirable (Non-Essential) Criteria:



Experience working in the IGU/glass or wider fenestration sector

Salary:

45K - 50K
