The Capital Engineering Business Manager will play a critical role in AWE\'s ongoing engineering transformation. You will be the first point of call for Capital Engineering Leadership Team for all their operational needs and responsible for supporting c.400 engineers to \xe2\x80\x98deliver the extraordinary\xe2\x80\x99.

Location: Reading area

Package: \xc2\xa358,500 - \xc2\xa375,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

Key Accountabilities:

Support and guide your multidisciplinary team to build a world class Capital business operations team continuously improving Engineering delivery

Ensure the Capital Engineering function runs smoothly and is aligned with AWE quality standards

Maximize the efficiency of all business procedures in Capital Engineering

Establish operational KPIs and conduct quality assessments across Capital Engineering

Monitor daily operations and address potential issues when they arise

Build processes in Capital Engineering that meet our business strategic objectives and ensure compliance

Monitor and manage financial data and recommend solutions to maintain Capital functional budget accuracy

Coordinate with the HR department to ensure our hiring plans meet our business needs

Take into account the needs of external and internal stakeholders and incorporate them into new strategic plans

To be successful in this role, you will think broadly, understand deeply, stitch across functions and be able to shape the new offerings and roadmap to best support engineering.

Additional requirements for the role include:

Demonstrable ability to understand and explain complex business processes, systems, and tools with a specific focus on upstream/downstream impact

A passion for process improvement with an approach that encourages innovation, elimination of waste, and efficiency improvements

Ability to work at a strategic level to assimilate and analyse information quickly to assess and resolve issues and execute solutions

Ability to apply robust judgment, can seek and challenge information to reach and make decisions

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, with a \xe2\x80\x9chow to\xe2\x80\x99\xe2\x80\x9d not \xe2\x80\x9cno\xe2\x80\x9d mentality

Ability to drive transformation, change and continuous improvement through collaboration and leading by example

Outward looking, able to leverage industry trends, best practices, and leading-edge technology and process improvement ideas

Works in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment, senses direction where it may be unclear, and does so without a loss of performance

Previous experience operating in a corporate governance role, focusing on resource and capability planning, risk management and business/financial reporting

A sound business and financial acumen to provide strategic and tactical insight and thinking to support the Engineering Function needs

Managing a high degree of effectiveness in a multitask role, managing priorities and delivering to challenging timescales

A commitment to and an understanding of diversity, equality and inclusion and leading, managing, and motivating teams to deliver

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.

All candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
