Our 15 dynamic teams provide essential support across a wide range of services - from finance, accounts payable, estates management, revenues and benefits, parks and open spaces, to public health, social care, highways, and more. We would like to welcome two
Business Support Officers
- who shares our values, bring a positive, can-do attitude, and isn't afraid to try new things. In this role, you'll be part of a centralised service supporting multiple departments across the council, working collaboratively to help us achieve shared goals. You will model and promote our organisational values and behaviours
About the Roles:
Finance Team 3
Provide financial support throughout the council by using Unit4 ERP to ensure payments are processed accurately and promptly. Responsibilities include: registering and processing large volumes of invoices
promoting financial regulations, offering guidance and support to both internal and external customers
handling urgent payment requests
responding to queries received in shared inboxes
You'll manage a varied workload, often working independently and taking ownership of your tasks. Creativity and problem-solving are key, as you'll help shape efficient ways of working. Strong communication skills and confidence using Microsoft tools (including shared calendars) are essential, along with a willingness to learn and grow.
Business Support Team 2
Provide support to a range of housing-related services

Responsibilities include: managing shared inboxes
coordinating tenancy activities and assisting with residents' requests
handling sensitive cases
collaborating with internal teams
using digital systems to track and manage work

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.
For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.
