Greenwich is a busy Planning and Building Control Team, dealing with over 4200 planning applications and over 300 Building Control applications p.a. The Borough is a growth borough and this is reflected in the volume of work we receive.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Business Support Manager to lead and develop the business support function within our Planning and Building Control service. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of administrative, financial, and performance management processes that underpin the delivery of high-quality planning and building control services.
You will work closely with Planning and Building Control managers, technical teams, and corporate colleagues to drive service improvements, enhance customer experience, and support the delivery of strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the business support team, ensuring effective delivery of administrative, financial, and performance functions.
Oversee the validation and processing of planning and building control applications, ensuring statutory compliance and excellent customer service.
Manage the receipt of application fees, monitor income and expenditure, and support financial planning and forecasting.
Develop and maintain performance reporting frameworks, using data to drive service improvement.
Lead on digital transformation and service redesign initiatives to improve efficiency and user experience.
Act as a key liaison with the teams and other corporate services to ensure the efficient delivery of the business support service.
Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and service standards.

An experienced manager with a strong background in business support, ideally within a planning, building control, or regulatory environment.
A confident leader with excellent people management and communication skills.
Highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working with data and digital systems.
Customer-focused, with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
Knowledgeable about planning and building control processes
