We are looking for Butcher's assistants to work at our Site in Crawley, RH10

As London's number 1 Pork Supplier, we are passionate about Pigs! Just like BA's campaign they fly to serve - We buy pigs to serve.

We sell to some of the major UK catering company's along with retail butchers and food service butchers. We value dedication and in return invest in the development of employees.

This role requires flexibility so we can work additional or different hours depending on business demands.

The Job

Assisting alongside the butchers, preparing packaging, work areas, and trimming cuts. Learning how to develop knife skills. Preparing meat for curing or other processing. Cleaning and maintaining tools, equipment and work surfaces. Performing quality inspections on meats and other products. Adhering to food safety and sanitation controls.

What we are looking for

Recent and up-to-date experience in meat cutting / trimming / handling of primals. Experience of working within a factory environment. Experience of working within food manufacturing. Will be positive, flexible, and hardworking with a passionate commitment to quality. Able to carry out the physical tasks that would be reasonably required. Ability to stand or walk for extending periods, lift heavy items, and work in cold environments.

Further information

Normal working days and hours of work are 45 hours per week, to be worked during the hours of 6.00am to 16.00pm on Monday to Friday inclusive with two daily unpaid breaks of 30 minutes each. Additional overtime at certain times is a requirement of the employment and must be worked if offered. We work 50 hours per week on average.

The hourly rate will be discussed with the successful candidate.

Applicants will be assessed in the process with a practical test to demonstrate knife skills if applicable.
