. This is a full-time, permanent role reporting directly to the
Commercial Director
. As a key part of the commercial and project delivery team, you will be responsible for the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services to support a range of construction projects across South Wales.
Key Responsibilities
Source, negotiate, and procure construction materials, plant hire, and subcontractor services to meet project needs.
Issue and manage purchase orders ensuring clarity, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing and reliable supply.
Work closely with site managers, project managers, and quantity surveyors to forecast material needs and avoid delays.
Monitor supplier performance, track delivery schedules, and manage any issues relating to quality, lead times, or costs.
Keep accurate records of procurement activities, price changes, and supplier evaluations.
Support cost-saving and sustainability initiatives through strategic sourcing and supplier engagement.
Stay up to date with market trends, material availability, and price fluctuations.
Requirements
Proven experience in a procurement or buyer role within the construction industry.
Strong understanding of construction materials, suppliers, and project workflows.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement/order management systems.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
HNC/HND or degree in Construction, Procurement, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Membership of CIPS or a similar professional body is desirable but not essential.
