We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).

We are currently seeking an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer to join our team who will support and enhance our manufacturing capabilities by creating accurate, efficient CNC programs.

To be successful in the role of CAD/CAM Programmer at Express Engineering, you will be experienced in:



Process Planning - Defining the optimum detailed routing of manufactured parts using Express Engineering System (Evolution). Production of stage drawings where applicable. Verification planned times are within the estimated budget and highlight any discrepancies. Tooling - Optimisation and standardisation of tooling to ensure the correct tooling is available prior to product production commencement. Fixtures - Design and implementation of cost effective and efficient jigs, tooling and production engineering solutions ensuring fixtures are available prior to product production commencement. Continuous Improvement - To eliminate waste and process variation, improve process capability and reduce product cost. Ownership of the technical package including product verification, change control and operational support. Managing technical challenges as they arise. Maintaining high standards to manufacture machined components.

To be considered for the role you should:



Hold a relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience in a manufacturing engineering environment. Have demonstrable CNC machining experience inclusive of 3 and 5 Axis CAD/CAM software, tooling design and manufacture in addition to CNC programming knowledge (preferably ISO and Mazatrol). Be proficient in the use of CAD modelling software. Be experienced with continuous improvement, new product introduction and / or steady state process engineering. Be experienced in maintaining and controlling the method of manufacture and method change control and supporting Production and Quality Assurance in resolving production problems and non-conformances. Have excellent communication skills working in collaboration with internal / external stakeholders. Be customer focused with a right first-time approach.
