We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled CAD / CAM designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for converting design drawings to technical manufacturing drawings and programming our CNC machine. This role requires a strong understanding of kitchen and furniture manufacturing, as well as proficiency in the operation of our Biesse CNC router. The role will require close collaboration with design and production staff to ensure that designs meet project specifications and standards. Responsibilities
Collaborate with design and production teams to optimise machine programmes, creating, editing, and refining programmes, and interpreting complex 2D design drawings.
Conduct regular reviews of designs to ensure they meet company standards and client specifications.
You will determine machining requirements, tooling, and sequential operations to achieve the best results, whilst also assisting with machine setup and testing, and performing test runs.
Maintain a structured and up-to-date library of all CNC programs and setup sheets
Perform technical analysis to identify issues in design or functionality, proposing effective solutions to include value engineering solutions.
Recommend improvements to machining processes, tooling, and programming standards
Assist in the preparation of project reports and documentation as required.
Skills
Must be proficient in Solid Works, Swood CAM and Swood Nesting software.
Knowledgeable in kitchen and furniture design and manufacturing principles.
Knowledge of woodworking and joinery processes, including the machining characteristics of materials such as MDF, solid wood and laminates.
Experience operating and programming Biesse Rover CNC machining centres.
Ability to interpret furniture designs effectively.
