Job Summary

Fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented and reliable CAD Designer to join a growing, family business in our newly fitted-out factories in Segensworth. Specialising in the design and manufacture of aircraft covers, Vertigo Covers has been trading for over 20 years and has a reputation for quality and innovation.

The new CAD Designer position will be responsible for creating accurate, production-ready CAD drawings and cut files for fabric covers. You'll work closely with production, pattern cutters, and management to ensure designs are efficient, manufacturable, and fit for purpose.

Responsibilities

Create and modify CAD drawings and patterns for custom and standard covers Translate measurements, sketches, and specifications into accurate CAD files Develop flat patterns for sewn products, including allowances and construction details Maintain and update a library of standard designs and revisions Support production with technical drawings, cut files, and documentation Liaise with production to resolve fit, tolerance, and manufacturability issues Assist with design improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency Operate scanning equipment and create cut files from scans

Experience / Skills

Proven experience as a CAD Designer, ideally within the cover-making industry Strong understanding of pattern development and fabrication methods Ability to design with real-world manufacturing constraints in mind High attention to detail and accuracy Comfortable working from measurements, physical samples, and technical briefs Knowledge of Rhino preferable Understanding of CNC cutting, digital patterning, and nesting Experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment
