We are now looking for an experienced CAD Draughtsman to join our team on a part-time basis at our Leeds head office.
About the Role
This role is ideal for an experienced draughtsman--potentially semi-retired or seeking reduced hours--who enjoys detailed technical work and supporting practical engineering projects.
Working alongside our Operations Manager and Chairman, you will help update and modernise our drawing library, refine technical documentation and create accurate, production-ready drawings used for fabrication, welding and machining. Attention to detail is essential, as precision directly impacts production accuracy and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Update and improve legacy drawings, ensuring:
Correct weld symbols
Accurate dimensions/tolerances
Clear inspection/quality notes
Consistent drawing standards
Produce GA drawings, assembly drawings, detailed part drawings and exploded views.
Convert hand sketches, concepts or rough ideas into accurate 2D/3D drawings.
Prepare drawings suitable for laser-cutting, fabrication, welding and machining.
Maintain proper revision control and drawing registers.
Apply practical engineering judgement to ensure drawings are manufacturable and cost-effective.
Support ongoing product development with the Operations Manager and Chairman.
Skills & Experience
Strong experience using
AutoCAD
and
Autodesk Inventor
.
Solid understanding of fabrication processes, weld symbols and general engineering drawing standards.
Proven background producing detailed drawings for manufactured/fabricated components.
Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision.
Comfortable developing drawings from hand sketches or verbal descriptions.
Methodical, organised and precise in approach.
