We're building a cutting-edge in-house manufacturing operation focused on sheet metal fabrication, asset refurbishment, and precision production to support our growing client portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to join us at the start of an exciting new chapter and help shape a high-performance production environment from the ground up.
Role Overview
As a
Metalwork Programmer / CAD-CAM Programmer
, you'll play a key role in our new facility, creating accurate DXF files and CNC programs for advanced equipment including our
P2 panel bender
,
CNC punch presses
,
flat lasers
, and
tube laser machines
.
You'll transform customer drawings and models into optimised, manufacturable parts, maximise nesting efficiency, and ensure smooth, reliable production on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Convert engineering drawings and 3D models into clean, production-ready DXF files
Program parts for:
P2 automated panel bender
CNC punch presses
Flat bed lasers
Tube laser cutting machines
Prepare efficient nests and cutting profiles
Validate bend allowances, punch tool paths, laser parameters, and material considerations
Collaborate closely with production teams to identify and resolve manufacturability issues
Manage revision changes and maintain an organised digital program library
Advise on tooling selection (punch tools, bending tools, etc.)
Continuously drive improvements in consistency, cycle times, and overall efficiency
What We're Looking For - Technical Skills
Essential
Proven CAD experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
CAM programming experience for laser cutting and/or punching
Strong ability to interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings
Skilled in DXF file creation, editing, and cleanup
Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
Highly Desirable / Nice to Have
Experience with Amada CAD/CAM systems (Dr Abe, VPSS), Radan, SigmaNest, or similar
Punch tooling setup and optimisation
Tube laser programming
Panel bending sequence programming
Knowledge of material behaviour (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium)
Processes You'll Work With
CNC punching
Flat and tube laser cutting
Automated panel bending (P2)
Folding and general fabrication
What Success Looks Like
Parts produced
right first time
Maximum machine utilisation
Minimal scrap and rework
Improved nesting efficiency
Smooth production flow with reduced firefighting
Who We're Looking For
This role will suit someone who:
Enjoys CAD work but thinks like a hands-on fabricator
Loves solving real-world manufacturing problems with practical, effective solutions
Has excellent attention to detail and can spot potential issues before they reach the shop floor
Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to building something new
If you're passionate about precision sheet metal programming and want to be part of launching a brand-new, high-tech manufacturing site with a forward-thinking logistics leader, we want to hear from you!
