Record UK is part of the ASSA ABLOY Group who is one of the major companies within the automatic pedestrian door systems industry. The group manufactures and distributes door systems to over 70 countries worldwide.

We design, manufacture, supply, install and service automated door systems and aluminium shop-fronts throughout the UK to a wide range of organisations and clients.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated candidate to join the CAD Team in our expanding group based in Blantyre.



Reporting to the CAD Team Leader you will assist in completing drawings and production packs for a wide range of contracts. You will be working in a fast-paced drawing office producing drawings in formats suitable for client approval, manufacturing and installation purposes.

The main requirements of the role are to:

From surveys and clients' details, produce detailed drawings to meet the requirements of Record UK's clients, production dept and provide suitable information for the installation teams. Produce detailed and itemised metal take off schedules for all in house manufactured doors, screens and operators. Calculate glass sizes for all in-house manufactured doors and screens. Provide full specification, metal takes offs and glass sizes at point of handover to the production department. Communicate with the production department at point of handover for any complex, bespoke or large projects to ensure all details are explained and highlighted in a suitable manner. Liaise with project managers to generate accurate and detailed drawings from survey and client information. Monitor survey and quote content to ensure all items are costed for and inform the Project Manager should any have been missed. Provide the Estimating department with drawing support and details should assistance be required at tender stage. Where possible utilise the most cost efficient and economic design and use of materials when compiling drawings. Consult the Project Manager, Technical and Production to ensure any design meets the appropriate and up to date regulations. Have a desire to constantly improve both yourself and the business using Record UKs improvement processes. Always be on the lookout for ways to perform any task in a more productive and efficient way and communicate this to the team. Contribute to ISO Business Management system.

Essential Criteria



Considerable drafting experience using AutoCAD. Positive 'can do' attitude. Attention to detail and care shown when undertaking any task. Passionate about continuous improvement & developing an improvement culture. Ability to work on own initiative. A self-starter and love to keep busy; your natural instinct is to ask for 'more to do'. Well organised and eager to get tasks completed in a timely manner and to a high standard. Excellent communication skills. Minimum of HNC in a construction related discipline. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable Criteria



Experience in the Aluminium shopfront or curtain walling industry Experience in using Logikal Knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools.
