Job Description

British Spirals & Castings is a family business manufacturing bespoke staircases, railings, balconies and balustrades for projects across the world.

We are looking for a qualified CAD Technician to join the friendly team at our head office in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire.

In this role, you will be responsible for liaising with our Managing and Operations Directors to produce bespoke product designs within Solidworks based on the client's brief and the property's design. This may include utilising images and point cloud data generated from a Leica imaging laser scanner.

The ideal candidate will be able to immediately hit the ground running and to work independently.

Responsibilities



Producing 3D CAD drawings in Solidworks to support the sales team in securing an order

Producing detailed 3D plan, elevation and fixing drawings for clients to sign off. This may include utilising existing file libraries or developing entirely bespoke product designs including using data from site laser scans

Producing fabrication drawings, Bills of Quantities and Cutting Lists for the manufacturing team

Ordering profiled material from the profilers

Helping develop new manufacturing concepts to make the production process more efficient

Communicating with clients and make amendments to drawings as required

Working alongside the project management team to ensure that the continuous flow of work through to the manufacturing teams to improve efficiencies

Documenting agreed manufacturing principles and develop Solidworks templates

Assisting in the development of new patterns and designs

Work along side the workshop director to gain a better understanding of our products and manufacturing process

Skills & Knowledge



The ideal candidate will:

Have an understanding of construction and manufacturing methods

Have an understanding of the qualities of metals and other fabrication materials

Have the ability to learn and adjust quickly to specific fabrication/manufacturing principles

Have the ability to convert verbal and written information into two-dimensional drawings which will then be used during manufacture -- accuracy and attention to detail are essential

Have the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Have good communication, numeracy and IT skills as these are essential

Be able to work alone or with a team

Be able to problem solve and help find solutions

Experience



Previous experience in product design for manufacturing.

Experience of 3D Scanners and utilising point cloud data would be advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 26,000.00-28,000.00 per year
