Groundhog has been manufacturing for over 30 years and operates from a state-of-the-art facility, specialising in the production of high-quality site welfare accommodation units, including static, mobile, and bespoke solutions.
Role Profile
We are seeking a CAD Technician to join our busy and reactive design office, playing a key role in developing solutions that enhance and improve our product range.
Using AutoCAD to produce 2D plan layouts and laser etching layouts, the CAD Technician will provide detailed drawing packs to assist operators in forming, welding and general assembly. In addition, the CAD Technician will develop their skills with
3D sheet metal design modelling
- including designing and outputting data to
Laser/Punch/Press-brake machinery
using nesting and bending software for the machine shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary duties will include:
Producing plan layout drawings for quotation or manufacturing.
Running the laser etching machine to produce unit identification plaques and maintaining stock levels.
Using various nesting and design software, such as RADAN, RADBEND, AutodeskInventor, AutoCAD, and Vault Basic, to produce nests for manufacture.
Scheduling products for manufacturing processing using the Groundhog application.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Experience within a design or project-based manufacturing environment. Having experience using sheet metal would be an advantage.
Strong capability in producing detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAD/design software.
Ideally qualified to HNC/HND or degree level in Design Engineering or a related field.
