Please note this job requires you to travel to our Office in Sleaford, Lincolnshire and is not a Hybrid role.

Role Purpose

To accelerate pre-project works and provide enhanced support to Project Managers before project allocation, the Design team is expanding its function. The CAD Technician will play a key role in coordinating early-stage project documentation, supporting design preparation, and managing subcontractor quotation processes. This role ensures the smooth transition from design to delivery by maintaining accurate records, coordinating with subcontractors, and supporting efficient quotation processes.

Key Responsibilities

Produce and update basic CAD layouts and models to support system design and tender preparation. Prepare and input Bills of Materials (BOMs) into SimPro to support the Procurement team in raising purchase orders. Support the Design Department with day-to-day administrative and technical tasks. Coordinate with potential subcontractors, including issuing scopes of work, collecting quotations, and summarising findings for review by Design Manager and the Operations team. Maintain accurate and organised design documentation, drawings, and records. Provide general operational support within the Design function, with a view to developing into a future Design role within the business.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software). Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills. Ability to interpret technical drawings and design documentation. Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with subcontractors and internal teams.
Desirable:

Experience using SimPro or other similar software. Background in fire protection, mechanical, electrical, or construction engineering environments. Knowledge of design coordination or project support processes.
