This is a hybrid position perfect for someone with previous kitchen experience who also has a basic to intermediate level of barista skills who is willing to learn and adapt. You'll be predominantly front of house preparing coffee, serving customers, clearing & cleaning the shop floor and outdoor areas. Helping with dishwasher, general daily cleaning and opening or closing the cafe. Then cooking in the kitchen at least one day a week, covering breaks and busy periods and also when staff are away on holidays.
Our main focus is of customer service, delivering our food & drinks menu to a high and consistent standard, quality and consistency is in everything we serve.
Please note: This position would suit someone who lives 15/20 minutes away from Southwick, West Sussex.
Key Responsibilities:
Barista duties including coffee preparation, serving cakes/pastries
Work independently and collaborate well with the front-of-house team
Great customer facing with happy bubbly personality
Prepare and cook food to order, to consistently high standards
Maintain high levels of cleanliness, hygiene, and kitchen organisation.
Take pride in plating and presentation.
Assist with stock management, prep and ordering.
Follow food safety, allergen, and hygiene regulations.
What We're Looking For:
Experience in making coffee using an espresso machine.
A friendly, team-oriented attitude and good communication skills.
Previous kitchen cooking experience in a commercial kitchen setting (lots of in house training will still be given)
Remain calm, organised and professional - even during busy moments.
Food hygiene certification is a bonus.
Basic math & good written English

Your shift would consist of:
Arriving on time, with clean & smart appearance, in good humour, and ready for action
Setting up your work space, keeping it clean throughout the day
Preparing coffees and other drinks to a same high standard every time
Sharing roles/responsibilities with all members
Closing, cleaning down shop carefully and tidily to a high level
Shift patterns:
4-5 Days a week
Every other Saturday
Shift times vary between 6:45-3, 7:30-3, 8-4:30, 12-4:30.
Full time position is available to start from September.
Training 1-2 days a week throughout August would be perfect
