We are seeking a friendly and dedicated Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality, food service, and creating a welcoming environment for our customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily cafe operations, ensuring high standards of service, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace. Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is advantageous but not essential; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are key. Barista experience and knowledge of food safety regulations are also desirable.
Responsibilities
Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
Assist with food preparation tasks in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Serve customers efficiently and courteously, taking orders and handling payments accurately.
Maintain cleanliness of the cafe area, including tables, counters, kitchen surfaces, and equipment.
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth operation throughout shifts.
Support the team during busy periods by assisting with general duties such as clearing tables and organising displays.
Uphold food safety standards at all times by following proper hygiene procedures and handling food responsibly.
Requirements
Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred but not mandatory; a friendly personality and eagerness to learn are essential.
Knowledge of food safety regulations is advantageous.
Barista experience is desirable but can be provided through training for the right candidate.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills with a professional approach to customer service.
Ability to work well within a team and independently when required.
Flexibility to work during cafe operating hours 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 2pm Saturdays,. This position offers an engaging work environment where you can develop your skills within the hospitality industry while contributing positively to our customer experience.
