Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our team in the cafe at Dice Saloon! The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while assisting with daily operations. A passion for customer service and gaming (Wargaming, board games or TCGs) is essential. The current expected schedule includes roughly 18 hours, with additional allowances for holiday cover and seasonal changes or larger events.

Duties

Provide excellent customer service in the cafe. Engage with customers to promote special offers and menu items, utilising effective communication skills. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the gaming space, ensuring everything is well-maintained. This includes setting up bookings and terrain for specific wargames. Food preparation and presentation, adhering to health and safety standards. Cash handling. Completing opening and closing tasks in an efficient, well-considered manner to ensure standards are upheld and colleagues are supported. Take on new, exciting challenges as the cafe diversifies its food offerings, events and promotions.

Qualifications

A passion for wargaming, board games, TTRPGs or TCGs is highly favoured for the role - we are a business built upon strong community foundations, and everything we do should be to support and grow this. Previous experience in hospitality is required for the role. Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience in team management or supervising roles. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy setting, when working with a colleague or working alone. A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the cafe environment, take on any challenge with passion and drive.
