Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and supporting the smooth operation of our cafe. This role involves assisting with food and beverage service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a welcoming environment for all guests. Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is advantageous, along with barista skills and knowledge of food safety standards. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a vibrant team setting. The job is a 6 month contract with the possibility of a permenant role at the end of the 6 months.

Responsibilities

Welcome customers warmly and take their orders with professionalism and attentiveness Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverages, including coffee, tea, and light snacks Assist in food preparation tasks while adhering to food safety regulations Maintain cleanliness of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen spaces Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service throughout the day Handle cash register operations accurately and process payments efficiently Support the team during busy periods by providing exceptional customer service Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers

Requirements

Prior experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is preferred; restaurant or barista experience is highly desirable Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required A proactive attitude with strong organisational skills Basic food preparation skills are advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21 per hour
